Josephine Lee
CHARLESTON – Josephine Ilene Lee, 87, of rural Charleston, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.
Her graveside Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Kickapoo Cemetery, rural Charleston, with Pastor Chris Walters officiating. Memorials in her honor may be given to East Harrison Street Church of God. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Josephine was born August 19, 1936 in Hutton Township, daughter of William and Mary (Balch) Wright. She married Bruce Thomas Lee, Sr., June 24, 1954. He preceded her into Heaven, May 3, 2016. She is survived by one son, Bruce Thomas Lee, Jr. and wife Teresa of Charleston; grandchildren, Danielle Camp and husband Anthony, and John Lee, all of Charleston; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Camp of Charleston; two brothers, Bill Wright (Mary Rickleman) and Adrian Wright, all of Charleston; and one sister, Jeanette Hornbeck of Silver Lake, IN. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Tony James Lee.
Josephine was a member of East Harrison Street Church of God. She had worked as a secretary at Hilltop and Mattoon Manor. Josephine liked going to auctions, and had an extensive collection of farm animal figurines, especially chickens and roosters. She was a gifted painter, and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, but most of all, she loved taking care of her family.
