Charles Rutan
ASHMORE – Charles Franklin Rutan, 90, of rural Ashmore, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his home.
The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Memorials: Lincolnland Hospice.
Charles was born May 26, 1929 at Rardin, Illinois, son of Clifford and Olive (Bryant) Rutan. He married Susan R. Decker, February 18, 1949 at Charleston; she preceded him into Heaven, February 11, 2008. He is survived by two children: Charles A. (Judy) Rutan of Trophy Club, TX and Linda Rutan of Ashmore; six grandchildren: Deanna (Dave) Glaspy, Darren (Aaren) Rutan, Jeffrey Rutan, Jon (Leanne) Rutan, Kylie (Miguel) Colόn and David Webb; six great-grandhildren: Andrew Rutan, Samuel Rutan, Elizabeth Rutan, Carrie Glaspy, Marlie Colόn, and Mia Colόn. One sister: Vera Hackett of Charleston also survives. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son: Caroll R. Rutan; one brother: Harold Rutan; and two sisters: Katherine Van Tassel and Evelyn Satterfield.
Charles retired from the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of First Church of God. Charles loved mushroom hunting and ginseng hunting, playing cards, and loved to bowl. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
