Donald Haughawout
CHARLESTON – Donald Joseph Haughawout, 94, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Charleston, with Father Hyland Smith officiating. Visitation will be on hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorials in his honor may be made to The St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Don was born September 16, 1924 in Sycamore, Illinois, son of Donald Pitt Haughawout and Frances Anna Marie (Hornung) Haughawout. He is survived by a dear friend: Kay Wheeler of Charleston; as well as his fellow parishioners at St. Charles.
Don was a devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was always willing to help anyone in need, often without needing to be asked. Don shared his faith in Jesus Christ at every opportunity and was constantly in prayer for the needs of others.
