CHARLESTON – Dorothy Julia Laws, 103, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Charleston and Hindsboro, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Her funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to North Village Baptist Church, 1010 E. Alice Avenue, Phoenix, AZ  85020.

Dorothy was born May 28, 1914 at Charleston, daughter of Speed Steven and Lottie (Pearcy) Stanfield.  She married Wesley Parcel Laws, March 2, 1936; he preceded her into Heaven, August 7, 2000.  Surviving are one son: Roy (Pamela) Laws of Bloomington, IL; two daughters: Esther Macklin of Peoria, AZ and Betty Bouffard of Dayton, OH.  Two sisters: Shirley (Dick) Wheeler of Champaign and Mary (Donald) Franklin of Coal City, IL; as well as 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in death by a son: John Laws; five brothers, and three sisters.

Dorothy was a longtime member of the Bushton Christian Church, and for the last 20 years, had been a member of the North Village Baptist Church.  She had worked at the Hindsboro Telephone Company and EIU.
