Florence Heyduck
CHARLESTON – Florence M. Heyduck, 94 of Charleston, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at her home.
The memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 311 Seventh Street, Charleston, with Reverend Mary Wright officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to: First Presbyterian Church or the Charleston Food Pantry. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Florence was born September 4, 1923 at San Jose, Illinois, daughter Peter and Catherine (Weise) Hagen. She married Billy Heyduck, December 29, 1954 at Joliet, Illinois; he survives. Also surviving are their children: Kurt Heyduck and wife Patrice of Coupeville, WA and Jean Heyduck and husband Chris Protz of Bluffton, SC. One sister: Dorothy Jean Hagen of Chicago; as well as four grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Florence was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Millikin University and her Masters Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Florence worked as a Health Science Librarian at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. She wrote the grant for funds that established the Medical Library at the hospital. Florence had also worked as a RSVP volunteer for many years.
