CHARLESTON – Joanna Mae Brown, 90, of Charleston, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at her home.

 

Her funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials: Donor’s choice.

 

Joanna was born October 12, 1928 in Charleston, daughter of Thomas and Lois (Walker) Baumgartner.  She married Clinton Laverl Brown, October 26, 1946 at Robinson, Illinois; he preceded her in death, February 6, 2019.  She is survived by their children: Ron (Rosie) Brown and Kathy Light, both of Charleston; grandchildren: Mandie Smith, Brandi (Dustin) Furry, and Clinton Lee Brown; great-grandchildren: Lance Smith, Mikayla Lane, and Sidney Furry; and two sisters: Norma Neal of Jefferson, IA and Winona Shepherd of Charleston.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother: Jerry Baumgartner.

 

Joanna was a member of First Christian Church.  In earlier years, she had worked at the Fashion Lane.  Joanna loved working crossword puzzles and word searches, going to the fair, and was an excellent cook.  She loved spending time with her family, and especially loved babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
