Joe Winnett, Sr.
CHARLESTON – Joe Kent Winnett, Sr., 83, of Charleston, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at SBLHC.
His funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Salisbury Church, 2190 County Highway 5, Charleston, with Michael Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Beavers Cemetery in Hutton Township. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m til 12:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Joe was born May 13, 1935 in Charleston, son of Berlin G. and Alice (Day) Winnett. He married Sharon Louise Casey, September 20, 1975 at Liberty Church; she survives. Also surviving are their children: Michael Joe Winnett, Frank Eugene Winnett, Joe Kent Winnett, Jr., Clifton Ray Winnett, Tammy Lee Bowling, Cynthia Ann Kuhl, and Joy Annette Wildman; siblings: David Winnett, Ray Winnett, Roy Winnett, and Carolyn Walston. Fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Yvonne Kuhl, grandson: David Knorr; great-granddaughter: Allana Winnett; three brothers: Frank Winnett, Clifford Winnett, and Jim Winnett; and two sisters: Joyce Thompson and Pandora Winnett.
Joe was a member of Salisbury Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Joe loved playing his guitar and harmonica, going fishing and camping. In earlier years he enjoyed visiting with people on the CB radio. His handle was “Speed Buggy”. He had worked at Clark Foundry, Mid-State Foundry, John Winnett Plumbing, Montz Plumbing, the City of Charleston, and at Fox Ridge he and Sharon had been hosts for 5 years.
