Judy Chism
ASHMORE - Judy Chism, 72, of rural Ashmore, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home at Mattoon.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, with her memorial service beginning at 12:00. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Judy was born August 16, 1947 at Monticello, Illinois, daughter of James Orville “Jack” and Modesta (Price) Lanman. She married Wayne Chism, March 29, 1964 at the home of her sister and brother-in-law: Patty and Wayne Edwards in rural Ashmore; he survives. Also surviving are their children: Mindy (David) Holste of Dieterich and Darren (Nikki Carver) Chism of Charleston; four grandchildren: Jeannie (Mark) Schabbing, Kayla Holste, and Jackson Holste, all of Dieterich, and Rosslyn Chism of Charleston; and three great-grandchildren: Miles Schabbing, Henry Schabbing, and Russ Schabbing, all of Dieterich. Two sisters: Helen (Bob) McCarty of McLean and Kay (Mike) Lindsey of Chrisman also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Russell Lanman and James “Fluff” Lanman, and three sisters: Bonnie Hite-Flemming, Patty Edwards, and Vicky Edwards.
Judy worked as an office manager for Drs. Hollowell, Spaniol, Buchanan, and Houseworth, and took great pride in her work. She loved bowling, sewing, and was an excellent cook. Judy was devoted to her family, and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them.
