Julia (Judy) F. Simpson
CHARLESTON – Julia "Judy” F. Simpson, age 83, of Charleston, was surrounded by family when she passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Barberton, OH.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Caudill-King Funeral Home in Charleston and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Marcus Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery located in Charleston.
She is survived by one daughter: Bekki (Rob) Atwood of Barberton, OH and five grandchildren: Tommy Koons of Neoga, Jamie (Virginia) Poppe of Pleasanton, KS; Matthew (Jessica) Poppe of Mesa, AZ; Joshua Poppe of Silverdale, WA; and Jessica (Garrett) Henrichs of Bloomington. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
Judy was born November 4, 1935 in Neoga, Illinois, daughter of Henry and Helen (Albin) Parker. She married John F. Simpson, May 25, 1979; he preceded her in death July 4, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her partner and soulmate of 25 years, Charles “Chuck” McCray, on January 16, 2016.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas E. Koons; one brother, James Parker; and infant twin sisters.
She is also survived by four stepchildren and their families: Dennis Simpson of Mattoon, Ann Simpson, John Simpson, and Tim Simpson, all of Charleston. She is also survived by Chuck’s children and their families: Candy Davis of Charleston, Sandy (Joe) Sanders of Terre Haute, IN, and Randy McCray of Charleston.
Judy managed the Northern Estates Mobile Home Park in Charleston for many years. She was a member of the Charleston Elks and Charleston Moose Lodge. Judy loved being with her family and was never happier than when she was with them. Her love for people extended beyond her own family and over her life she was fortunate to love many others who thought of her as another mother and grandmother.
