Marlene Ebinger
CHARLESTON – Marlene Ebinger, 85, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION.
Marlene was born July 28, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Miller) Spreen. She married John Ebinger, August 11, 1956, in Cincinnati, OH; he survives. Also surviving are their children: Wendy (Gary) Satchwell of Bloomington, IL; Warren (Cindy) Ebinger of Indianapolis, IN; Scott (Joan) Ebinger of Charleston; and Kari Ebinger of Austin, TX. Ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marlene received her Bachelor’s Degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH. She taught first grade in New Haven, CT, helping put her husband through Yale University for his Ph.D. Marlene was devoted to her family. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, was active with the Charleston Swim Club, the PTA, and had formed a knitting group that still is active. She was an avid reader and loved to play board games.
