CHARLESTON – Mary A. Garrett, 64, of Charleston, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 

Mary was born November 15, 1954 in Charleston, daughter of Darrell “Doc” and Barbara Jeanne (Whalen) Pearcy.  She married Jerry E. Garrett, April 27, 1974 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; he survives.  Also surviving are their children: Gwen (Dave) Huenneman of Lake In The Hills, IL and Stephanie (Joe) Poole of Mahomet; grandchildren: Andrew Poole and Emily Poole, both of Mahomet; one brother: Danny (Sharon) Pearcy of Little Rock, AK; three sisters: Theresa (Walt) Watson of Decatur, Brenda Farris of Charleston, and Christina Pearcy of Dawson; sister-in-law: Ann Pearcy of Charleston; mother-in-law: Elizabeth Garrett of Argenta; brother-in-law: Terry (Terri) Garrett of Argenta; and two sisters-in-law: Lottie (Kevin) Metsker of Argenta and Janean (Brian Florey) Garrett of Clinton, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: David Pearcy; sister: Elaine Johnson and husband Nathan; brother-in-law: Jim Farris; and father-in-law: Gerald Garrett.

 

Mary was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.  She retired from Eastern Illinois University as a legal secretary.  Mary loved BINGO, bowling, and traveling.  Most of all she cherished time she was able to spend with family, especially her grandchildren.

 

A private service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Davita Dialysis.
