MATTOON – May M. Myers, 94, of Mattoon, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at SBLHC.

 

Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, followed by a brief Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.  Inurnment of ashes will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to: P.A.D.S. of Mattoon or the Charleston Food Pantry.

 

May was born May 1, 1923 at Charleston, daughter of Charles A. and Martha Ann (Stoner) Herman.  She married Paul A. Coartney.  From that union, five children were born.  She later married Raymond W. Myers.  He passed away in August 1984.  She is survived by three daughters: Carolyn Kolling of Charleston, Marty Misenheimer of Mattoon, and Judy Barding of Charleston.  Six grandchildren: Bill Misenheimer, Roger Misenheimer, Jr., Cay Kolling, Paul (Chris) Kolling, Jessica (Brian) Carlstrom, and Erin (Lane) Barding-Foster; as well as nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one brother: John Herman of Charleston, also survive.  She was preceded in death by a son: Larry Paul Coartney; a daughter: Shirley Coartney; a granddaughter: Jamie Misenheimer; two brothers: Kenneth Herman and Bill Herman; and three sisters: Florence Donley Armstrong, Doris Childress, and her twin, Merle Ohm.

 

May was a homemaker and a member of Paul McVey V.F.W. Post Ladies Auxiliary for more than 60 years.
