Opal Swart
CHARLESTON – Opal L. Swart, 86, of Charleston, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with her family at her side.
Her graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Janesville Cemetery, Janesville, Illinois. Casual attire would be appreciated. There will be no visitation. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Opal was born April 18, 1932 at Charleston, daughter of Claude and Ida (Glosser) Lang. She married Charles A. Swart, July 4, 1953 at Corinth, MS; he preceded her in death, April 28, 2018. She is survived by their children: Judith (Lowell) Thompson of Charleston, Robert (Anita) Swart of Lerna, and Sharon “Katie” Rose of Charleston; four grandchildren: Kimberly (Billy) White, Penny Wallace, Doug (Shannon) Heddins, and Robert D. Swart, Jr.; three great-grandchildren: Ashley Heddins, Andrew Decaro, and Matthew Chaney; three sisters: Freda Lineberry of Charleston, Ruth Hayes of Effingham, and Connie Poulter of Charleston; as well as special friend: Larry Hurst, also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Everett Lang, Bill Lang, and Leslie Lang; and three sisters: Bertha Ellen Lang, Agnes Lang, and Mary Shaub.
Opal was a devoted housewife and mother. She enjoyed her flower gardens, feeding the hummingbirds, and going fishing. Opal cherished time spent with her family.
