Richard Wiley
HUMBOLDT – Richard “Dick” Lee Wiley, 87, of Humboldt, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at SBLHC.
The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter.
Dick was born March 13, 1932 in Charleston, son of John F. and Margaret L. (Martin) Wiley. He was united in marriage to Barbara Alice Moffett, April 7, 1951 at Corinth, MS; she survives. Also surviving are their children: Rick Wiley and wife Mary of Mattoon and Janis Andres and husband James of Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Sue Timm and Jackie Cox.
Dick had worked for the State of Illinois, with the Department of Fish Hatcheries and also as a Meat Inspector, and had been an Engineer for Norfolk and Western Railroad. He held memberships in the Mattoon Eagles Club and Mattoon Elks Lodge. Dick enjoyed bird hunting and attending field trials with his Tennessee Walking Horses. He also liked having cocktails with friends.
