Rosalie Burris
CHARLESTON - Rosalie (Wilson) Burris, 69, of Charleston, passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital, with her daughters by her side, on August 3, 2018.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rosalie was born October 1, 1948 in Champaign, to Raymond and Martha (Finley) Wilson. She married Carlos E. Burris, Sr., May 8, 2009 at Charleston; he died August 13, 2012. She is survived by her children: Danielle (Michael) Schultz of Noblesville, IN, Kimberly Lawyer of Bement, and Michelle (Jon) Higar of Tuscola; six grandchildren: Amanda, Trevor, Tyler, Travis, Madison, and Jillian; step-sons: Carlos Burris, Jr. of Ashland, KY, Chad Burris, Nick Burris, and Scott Burris, all of Charleston; three brothers: Kenneth Wilson of Sullivan, Terry (Mely) Wilson of Mt. Pulaski, and Ralph Wilson of Charleston; also her nephews and niece: Alex, Brian, and Cindy survive. She was also preceded in death by parents, and an infant niece: Brandi Wilson.
She was a graduate of Greenville College. She was a school teacher for several years, and later a substitute teacher in many school districts. She loved her family and her grandchildren most of all. She loved to travel and has been to every state except Hawaii. Rosalie was accomplished at playing the piano and often played for other’s enjoyment.
