Russell Cox
CHARLESTON - Russell Cox passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 28, 2019.
There will be no funeral services as Russell is being cremated per his wishes. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 12th. More information will be available at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses of the cremation: or to a place of your choosing.
Russell was born May 12, 1958 at the Charleston Hospital, a son of Robert Eugene and Florence Faye Brewer Cox. They preceded him in death. He is survived by 6 children: Shane Cox, Charleston; Shawn Cox, Charleston; Shana Foxx, Shelbyville, TN; Abraham Cox, Shelburn, IN; Crystal Cox, Charleston; Alisha Haynes, Mattoon, IL. 2 brothers: William Cox and Howard Cox both of Charleston, and a sister, Roberta Moore, Decatur. He was preceded in death by a sister, JoEllen Cox. He had a special Aunt and Uncle, his mother’s twin sister, Kaye and her husband Paul Gordon.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Scott, Zane, Alyson, Raymond, Damian, Zack, Bryant, Aiden, Dawn, Alix, Krimsonn, Savannah, Wyatt, Dakota, Kaydence, Tyler and Pete. He had many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loved ones.
Russell worked at the Foundry, drove a semi, and did construction work. He loved working in the yard, woodworking and puzzles. He was really a jack of all trades before he became disabled. He was a kind, and loving man that would give his shirt off his back if someone needed it. His death will affect everyone whose life touched his.
