Shane Lewis
CHARLESTON – Shane Thomas Lewis, 41, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Shane was born December 13, 1977 at SBLHC, son of Joyce (Roberts) of Charleston and John T. Lewis of Murphysboro, IL. He is survived by his two daughters, Mahala Smyser-Lewis and Sequoia Smyser-Lewis, both of Missouri, his parents, Joyce and John, five brothers, Jeff Van Tassel and wife Helena of Oakland, Todd Lewis of Charleston, Mike Lewis of Charleston, Jacob Lewis of Murphysboro, IL and Logan Perry of Champaign. Three nephews, Keith Van Tassel and wife Stella, Dylan Lewis, and Hunter Lewis, three nieces, Tristan Van Tassel and fiancé Dylan of Windsor, Alisha Van Tassel, and Tessa Lewis. One great-nephew, Samuel Van Tassel, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
Shane loved listening to music, he LOVED The Grateful Dead, and being outdoors drawing and fishing with his nephew Hunter. He was a quiet soul, but loved his family and would be willing to help anyone. Shane was a true friend to many and will be greatly missed.
His memorial gathering will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Charleston Elks Lodge. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
