Terry Bayes
CHARLESTON – Terry Bayes, 63, of rural Charleston, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer with his loved ones by his side.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Friends will be invited to share memories in a short service, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Casual attire requested, camo welcomed.
Terry was born February 26, 1956 at Charleston, son of Billy Lowell and Evelyn (Kirkley) Bayes. He married Cindy Hite, September 23, 1989 at Charleston; she survives. Also surviving are his two beloved Chihuahuas: Tucker and Benson; two brothers: Larry (Kimberly Bryant) Bayes of Logan, WV and Bill Bayes of Redmon, IL; one sister: Sheila (Shawn) Walton of Redmon, IL; mother-in-law: Rosie Hite of Rardin; one sister-in-law: Priscilla (Terry) Parker of Rardin; three brother-in-laws: Randy Hite of Bushton, Roger (Lisa Gordon) Hite of Rardin, and Ryan Hite of Rardin; nieces and nephews: Veronica DePew, Crystal Bayes, Amanda Bayes-Johnson, Zach Walton, Bradley Ryan Walton, Rhett Hite, Terry Parker Jr., Teresa McKinney, and Anthony Parker. Twenty-two great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Lester and Doris Bayes, John Henry and Pearl Kirkley; and father-in-law: Rod Hite.
Terry was a Grounds worker at EIU. He was a former member of the Moose and had been recognized as a Master Gardener and Beekeeper. He earned the President’s Award at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center while he was employed there.
