Thomas Price, Sr.
CHARLESTON – Thomas E. “Peanut” Price, Sr., 78, of Charleston, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
His funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Vance Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Craig Cemetery, rural Charleston. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to an education fund for Exzavor.
Tom was born January 23, 1940 at Cayuga, IN, son of Ash and Sophia Ivelia (Manning) Brown. He married Nellie Joan Miller, February 25, 1962 at the North Union Separate Baptist Church; she survives. Also surviving are their children: Thomas Price, Jr. of Mattoon, Tony Price and wife Cindy of Charleston, Tim Price and wife Tina of Charles City, VA, Loretta Phillips and special friend Eric Craft of Charleston, and Terry Price and wife Michelle of Ashmore. Seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Tom was a carpenter by trade, and had worked for Don Metcalf Builders for 32 years. He enjoyed square dancing, collecting model cars, loved watching westerns, tinkering in the shed, visiting with neighbors, spoiling his grandchildren, and ALWAYS started the day with a Coca-Cola.
