Vivian Carpenter
ASHMORE – Vivian E. Carpenter, 90, of Ashmore, crossed the rainbow bridge to rejoin her beloved husband Tom, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at SBLHC.
Her graveside funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Patsy Mitchell Cemetery, rural Ashmore. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Vivian was born November 3, 1927 in Coles County, Illinois, daughter of George and Eula (Graham) Smith. She married Thomas Carpenter, May 27, 1967 at the Ashmore Presbyterian Church; he passed away April 24, 2009. She is survived by two sisters: Mary Kaiser of Charleston and Lena Peters of Mattoon; four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: as well as a special nephew: Randy Brown and his wife: Sharlene, of Ashmore, also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters.
Vivian was a member of the Ashmore Presbyterian Church. She retired from the Mattoon Golf and Country Club, where she had served as Chef. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and gardening.
