Ray Scott Klawonn

CHARLESTON – Raymond Scott Klawonn, 51, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, with loved ones at his side.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Charleston, with Father Braden Maher officiating.  His graveside funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston.  Memorials in his honor may be made to the family in order to establish an education fund for his daughter.

Ray Scott was born June 27, 1970 in Waukegan, Illinois, son of Raymond C. and Dorothy (Gnorski) Klawonn.  He married Brandee Arleen Pywell, April 7, 2006 in Charleston; she survives.  They celebrated their sixteenth anniversary on the day of his passing.  Also surviving is their daughter, Donette June Klawonn, at home, his father, Raymond, two brothers, Casey (Tatiana) Klawonn and Kary (Michelle Holden) Klawonn, one sister, Janel (Jack) Bernal, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and Richard Pywell, and sisters-in-law, Tracy (J.R.) Miller and Jill (Kirby) Wechsler, several nieces and nephews, and his four legged friend, Woodrow.  He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother Kelly Klawonn, one sister, Donette Klawonn, nephew Jesse Miller, and grandparents-in-law, June and Paul Mayhew.

Ray Scott was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and fireworks.  Ray Scott enjoyed spoiling his daughter and teasing his nieces and nephews.  He was full of love and orneryness, and was very giving.  Ray Scott would go out of his way to help anyone in need, whether he knew them or not.
