Barbara Ann Heckathorn

CHARLESTON, IL – Barbara Ann Heckathorn, 76, of Charleston, formerly of Winter Haven, FL, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Barbara was born October 4, 1947 at Princeton, Virginia, oldest child of Viola and James P. Brown, Sr.  She married James L. Heckathorn, May 4, 1968 at Bridgeton, New Jersey; he survives.  Also surviving are their sons, Eric Heckathorn of Waynesville, MO and Jon Heckathorn and wife Brigitte of California, MD; grandchildren, Adam Heckathorn, Graceanne Heckathorn, Kirby Heckathorn, Bella Heckathorn, and Luka Heckathorn; siblings, Dremasue Barber of Galax, VA, Shirley Bown, Teresa Brown, Janice Brown, Pam Doughty, and James Brown, Jr., all of Bridgeton, NJ.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Winter Haven, FL.  In earlier years, she had worked as a Lab Technician, and had owned her own Floral Shop as well managed another Florist.  Barbara Ann ministered along side her husband as he Pastored churches wherever God led them.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, arts and crafts of all kinds, cooking, word searches, and reading.  Barbara set aside time each evening to read, especially enjoying mystery novels.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled in the fall at their home church.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
