Betty Easter

CHARLESTON – Betty Easter, 77, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at home with her children at her side.

She was born 6/12/1942 at Tamms, Illinois, to Carl and Muriel (Adams) Roberts, the second of eight children.  She married Gerald Easter, 2/19/1965 and had 39 years together until his death 3/2/2004.  They had 3 children together, Amber Easter, Kimberly Easter Ballard (husband Scott), and Tim Easter (wife Michelle) all of Charleston. Three grandchildren: Samantha Ballard, Adam Easter, and Alec Easter brought her many happy memories over her years.  Siblings: Shirley Snoddy, Sharon Turner, Miranda Stremming, Vickie Jackson, Mark Roberts, and Jim Roberts.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother: Stanley Roberts.

Betty retired from Eastern Illinois University after many years working in Booth Library and Thomas Hall, where she became a mother figure to many students away from home for the first time.

Alzheimers slowed her down in her final years but did not diminish her ornery side which has left her family with many stories and memories.  Special thanks to the many friends who brought a smile to her face in her final years.

No services will be held as her wishes were for cremation and her children to spread her ashes in a location that was special to them.
