ASHMORE – Bradley Jay Coffey, 62, of Ashmore, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at home, surrounded by his family.
Bradley was born May 27, 1964 at Charleston, son of Bert A. and Linda (Lauher) Coffey. He married Brenda Kay Holycross, February 24, 2015 at the Coles County Courthouse; she survives. Also surviving are their children, Jeannie (Mark) Schabbing of Dieterich, Ashley (Brett) Funneman of Ashmore, Justin Coffey of Mattoon, and Skylar Coffey of Ashmore; grandchildren, Natalie Stine, Myles Schabbing, Henry Schabbing, and Russ Schabbing; brothers, Greg (Kim) Coffey of Hutton and Jeff (Sarah) Coffey of Charleston; nieces and nephews, Tori (Kelly) Courtney, Colt Coffey, Brandi (Zach) Buchanan, Erica (Clint) Tucker, Carley (Cody) Fabela and Dylan (Shelby) Coffey. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bradley was a member of the Ashmore Baptist Church and had served on the 4th of July Committee for several years. He enjoyed painting, woodworking, swimming, and making grilled cheese sandwiches. Bradley had been a farmer for many years, and most recently had been working as a truck driver. Other than being at home in Ashmore, his favorite place to be was Ft. Myers Beach, FL, relaxing on the beach. Bradley was very outgoing, willing to do anything for anyone in need, playing jokes on friends and family, and it seemed he always had a smile on his face, and had a gift for making people laugh.
A Celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
