Dirinda Coartney

CHARLESTON – Dirinda M. Coartney, 74, of Charleston passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at SBLHC.

Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, rural Kansas, Illinois.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials: R.U.F.F. Dirinda was born May 2, 1944 at Mattoon, daughter of James "Carlos" and Thelma (Honn) Towles.  She is survived by her children: Shawn (Mark) Livingston of Toledo, Marissa Alexander of Toledo, James "Tony" (Michelle) Coartney of Mattoon, and Kristen Coartney of Greenup.  One sister: Linda (Eric) Huddlestun of Charleston, and five grandchildren: Coartney (Terry Hedger) Livingston of Harrisburg, IL, Nathan Livingston of Toledo, Amanda (Victor De La Torre) Alexander of Scottsdale, AZ, Brandon Alexander of Toledo, and Logan Coartney of Mattoon, also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dirinda retired as a Case Worker from the Illinois Department of Human Services.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  Dirinda enjoyed camping, shopping at Big Lots, and eating and shopping at Cracker Barrel.  She adored her little dog, Foxy.
