Donald B. Garrett

ASHMORE – Donald Bedford Garrett, 85, of Ashmore, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at home, with family at his side.

His graveside funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.  Arrangements: Caudill-King.

Donald was born November 20, 1937 at Mountain View, Arkansas, son of W. C. and Olva (McDaniels) Garrett.  He married Peggy Sue James, July 16, 1962 in Chicago, IL.  She passed away December 29, 2008.  He is survived by two sons, Donald R. Garret and wife Charlene of Charleston and Michael J. Garrett of Ashmore; three grandchildren, Donald M. Garrett, Michael J. Garret II, and Zavon Delaney; and one nephew, Edward Benefield.  He was also preceded in five brothers, Doyle, Leon, Clifford, Dale, and Milford Garrett, and one sister, Vivian Stone.

Donald had worked as an Iron Worker and a Tool and Die Maker.  He was a devoted husband and father, and had coached baseball teams in earlier years.
