Elaine Johnson

CHARLESTON – Elaine Johnson, 65, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at her home.

Her memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  No service will be held.

Elaine was born January 22, 1953 in Charleston, daughter of Darrell "Doc" and Barbara Jeanne (Whalen) Pearcy.  She married Nathan Johnson, June 2, 1975 at the Coles County Courthouse; he preceded her in death August 13, 2006.  She is survived by their children: Adam (Taysha) Johnson of Charleston and Megan (Jason Cassiday) Johnson of Ashmore; and two grandchildren: Brynlee Johnson and Jordan Cassiday.  She was also an honorary grandma to 8 others.  One brother: Daniel (Sharon) Pearcy of Little Rock, AR; four sisters: Theresa (Walter) Watson of Decatur, Mary (Jerry) Garrett of Charleston, Brenda Farris of Charleston, Christina Pearcy of Dawson, IL; and one sister-in-law: Ann Pearcy of Charleston, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: David Pearcy; and one brother-in-law: Jim Farris.

Elaine was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.  She retired from EIU as a Cook.  Elaine loved to cook, work crossword puzzles, and BINGO!  She was a wonderful Wife, Mom, Sister, and Aunt, but took special joy in being Grandma.
