Gary Shepherd

CHARLESTON – Gary J. Shepherd, 56, of Charleston, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

His graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Craig Cemetery, rural Charleston.  IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials may be given to the Coles County Animal Shelter.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.

Gary was born November 17, 1964 in Mattoon, son of Oscar and Winona (Baumgartner) Shepherd.  He was preceded in death by his father.  Gary leaves behind a son, Josh, his mother, Nonie, and his siblings, Kolleen (Dave) Brazzell, Bill (Becky) Shepherd, Wanda (Steve) Daugherty, and Mike (Terri) Shepherd.  He also leaves behind nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, NASCAR, and an occasional game of poker.  He was also a pro at teasing everyone and thoroughly enjoyed it.
