Homer F. Snider, Jr.

CHARLESTON -Homer F. Snider Jr. ("Buzz"), 81, of Charleston, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.  (no visitation will be held).  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.

Homer was born July 30, 1943, to Homer Sr. and Marian (McCord) Snider. He married Audrey Cole on December 1, 1963. Through 60 years of marriage, they farmed together, dedicated to their family.  Audrey survives, as well as children Jeffrey (Marla) Snider, Lori (Doug) Bluhm, Jana Meeks (Wayne Berry), and Becky (Keith) Ames.  Homer's legacy includes the grandchildren he dearly loved; Emily (Matt) Myers, Brock and Rowan Meeks, Mallory and Trevor Ames. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Rosie) Snider. Homer was a "bonus dad" to Landan Thompson and Rob Ratliff, who he specially loved.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters (Jean Jesse and Pam Rhodes), and infant granddaughter.

Homer spent his entire life farming and raising livestock in Coles County. He actively volunteered and supported school, farm bureau and 4-H activities. He loved to dance with his wife, make homemade ice cream, find a good deal and visit with friends.  He always had a story to tell, advice to give and a penny to save.  He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Coles County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund.
