Jean Moody

CHARLESTON – Jean Moody, 91, of Charleston, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, surrounded by her children, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, Mattoon.

The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Caudill-King Funeral Home with Pastor John Reside officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 at the funeral home.  Memorials: Douglas-Hart Nature Center.

Jean was born November 2, 1926 in Coles County, Illinois, daughter of Walter and Esther (Edman) Richards.  She married Frank D. Moody, September 21, 1955 at Charleston; he preceded her in death March 3, 1992.  She is survived by their children: Tricia (Gerry) Eads of Charleston, George (Linda) Moody of Charleston, Cinda (Lenny) Edwards of Oakland, Linda (Terry) Etnire of Charleston, and Ginger Hood and fiancé Charles Intiso of Charleston.  Grandchildren: Gina (Jim) Blagg, Garrod (Jami Goetten) Eads, Andrea (Jody) Harmon, Sarah Harris, Luke (Lorie) Edwards, Eugene (Shanna) Edwards, Jeremy (Mindy) Etnire, Jamie (George) Miller, Chad (Tiffany Medina) Hood, Lauren Hood, Ashley (Zach) Doemelt, Deb Davis, and Matt Davis; twenty-four great-grandchildren, as well as one sister-in-law: Blanche Stallings of Plainfield, IN, also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Frankie L. Moody, and two sisters: Jane Watson and Joie Reddicks.

Jean was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, and was a volunteer at Douglas-Hart Nature Center.  She was a devoted Grandma and great-grandmother, known as "Mooney" to many of them.  Jean loved watching birds and teaching the grandkids and great-grandkids about them.  Jean enjoyed family gatherings, making their time together special.
