Karen Buxton

CHARLESTON – Karen Sue Buxton, 84, of Olney, formerly of Charleston, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

Her graveside funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Huckaba Cemetery, rural Charleston. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.

Karen was born November 28, 1941 at Pana, Illinois, daughter of Louis “Bud” and Eleanor B. (Nicol) Pryce. She married Stephen Charles Buxton, September 21, 1966 at Pana, IL. He passed away December 24, 2019. She is survived by their children, Jodi (Rob) McKinney of Westfield, Lisa (Randy) Craft of Wapella, IL, Stephen L. (Rhonda) Buxton of Olney, IL, and Julie (Bob) Olson of Mt. Zion, IL; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren (with another on the way), and one sister, Janet White of Taylorville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Charleston. She ran Buxton’s Laundry service for many years, and later went back to school to become an L.P.N., and continued her education to become a R.N. Karen enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, and reading, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
