CHARLESTON – Linda Lou (Cooper) Houston, 80, of Charleston, formerly of Ashmore, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at SBLHC.
The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3400 DeWitt Avenue, Mattoon. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Memorials in her honor may be made to: Pacific Garden Mission, 1458 S. Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60607. Arrangements: Caudill-King.
Linda was born October 9, 1941 in Coles County, Illinois, daughter of Zarlie and Lucille (Lawyer) Cooper. She married Dwight Allen "Al" Houston, November 21, 1992 at Bible Center Church, Charleston. He preceded her into Heaven, January 7, 2022. She is survived by her children, Bill (Sharon) Huddlestun and Lisa (Tim) Leisch. Grandchildren, Robert, David, and Adrienne Huddlestun, and Brandon (Shelby) Stevens. Great-grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Naomi, and Madelyn Huddlestun, Jr. Diaz, Cameron, Nevaeh, and Bella Bonner, Ava Gill, and Aaron Holgarth. Al's children, Paula (Patrick) Mason, Kyla (Justin) Nihiser, and Ashley (Phil) Joyner. His eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren, and one brother, David (Anita) Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sharon (Ronnie) Robison.
Linda was a hair stylist, and in later years, she was bookkeeper for Lee's Nursery and Greenhouse. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church. Linda loved crafting, baking, cooking, playing cards, and watching the Hallmark Channel.
