Lucy Mae Lewis

CHARLESTON – Lucy Mae Lewis, 105, of Charleston, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at Heartland Senior Living, Neoga.

The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Finley officiating.  Burial will follow in Salisbury Cemetery, rural Charleston.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Lucy was born April 30, 1920 at Charleston, daughter of Sanford and Lillie (Teets) Abston.  She married Lemon Lewis in 1941.  He passed away February 22, 1996.  She is survived by nieces, Jan Endsley and family of Charleston, Patty Postlewait and family of Ashmore, Cindy Hodges and family of Florida and nephews, Charles Burke and family of Westfield and Joe Zellmer and family of Texas; and dear friends, Sharon and Dennis Curry of Mattoon.  She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, three half-brothers, one half-sister, and dear friend Charles Creager.

Lucy was a Godly woman, always putting others first, and was a devoted member of First Church of God of Charleston.  She worked at Brown Shoe Company for many years and had also worked for Mayflower Transportation.
