Margaret Phillips

CHARLESTON – Margaret Louise Phillips, 85, of Charleston, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024 at the Harmony Center – Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, with her funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Chambers Cemetery, Charleston.

Margaret was born January 27, 1939 at Charleston, daughter of Phyllis Amelia (Stewart) and Wayne Wesley Farris.  She married Charles L. Phillips, June 3, 1958 at Mattoon.  He passed away March 15, 1998.  She is survived by their children, Dan (Adele) Phillips of Menifee, CA, Richard (Rhonda) Phillips of Charleston, and Ronald Phillips of Mattoon; grandchildren, Daniel, Brianna, Kristen, Paula, Amanda, Ronald, Anthony, Brandon, Tyler, Jennifer, and Kelsey; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bill Stewart, Bob Farris, John Farris, Tom Farris, Paula Hinton, Shirley Hardin, and Nancy Farris.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Beverly Hite, grandson, Connor Phillips, and great-grandson, Alex Phillips.

Margaret enjoyed bowling, and was a huge sports fan, especially the Cubs and the Fighting Illini.  She was a Spelling Bee Champion, and was always the life of the party.  Margaret's primary focus was taking care of her family.
