Martha Bayles

ASHMORE – Martha Lynn "Marty" Bayles, 82, of Ashmore, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at home, with her loving family at her side.

Her graveside funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024 at Bell Cemetery, rural Greenup, with Pastor Don Lusk officiating.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.  Memorials in her honor may be made to: Illinois Baptist Disaster Relief Team or Ashmore Baptist Church.

Marty was born March 24, 1942 in Union Township, Cumberland County, Illinois, daughter of C. Max and Erma Jean (Walters) Lawyer.  She married Robert Dale Bayles, November 23, 1962; he survives.  Also surviving is their son, Clint Bayles of Ashmore; grandchildren, Madison Wilson and husband Johnny of Sullivan and Blayne Bayles of Ashmore; one great-granddaughter, Baylor Claire Wilson of Sullivan; two brothers, Ron Lawyer of Centralia and Chuck Lawyer of Charleston; and one sister, Carolyn Owens of Mattoon.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, George Lawyer and one sister, Mary Jane Cline.

Marty was an active member of Ashmore Baptist Church, especially enjoying helping with the Awana program.  She worked for Moore Business Forms, following the company to Rochester, Indiana after the local facility closed, until she was able to retire.

Marty's life focused on her family.  She cherished every moment she was able to spend with her son, grandchildren, and her great-grandchild.
