Mary Plummer

CHARLESTON – Mary Lenora Plummer, 74, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, Mattoon.

Mary was born September 26, 1951 in Farmland, Indiana, the daughter of Mertie Leora (Wright) and Francis Mitchell Lewis Walker. She married John Wesley Plummer on October 16, 1977, at East Harrison Street Church of God. He passed away December 11, 1987.

She is survived by her children, Angela Cooper and longtime partner David Robinson of Champaign, Michelle J. Keeton and husband Jessie of Charleston, and Sarah Wozniak and husband Clarence of Cayuga, IN; her grandchildren, Wesley Keeton, Everett Wozniak, Dani Wozniak, and Ava Wozniak; her great-granddaughter, Paisley Wozniak; and sister, Judith Woods of Imbler, Oregon; her brother, Jack Walker and wife Sherry of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and several brothers and several sisters.

Mary was a member of the United Pentecostal Tabernacle of Charleston. She was an artistic person who enjoyed drawing, sewing, and making decorative candies and mints. A talented seamstress, she often put her sewing skills to use helping family and friends with their projects. A lifelong reader, she instilled a love of reading in each of her daughters. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing card games with them. Those who knew Mary will remember her creativity, laughter, and many things she made by hand.

A graveside Memorials Service will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mound Cemetery in Charleston. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
