Maureen Hallowell

CHARLESTON – Maureen S. Hallowell, 81, of Charleston, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026 at SBLHC.

The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2026 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Father Michael Berndt officiating. Visitation will begin Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Saturday at the funeral home. Casual attire would be appreciated. Burial of ashes will be private.

Maureen was born September 25, 1945 in Keokuk, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Mary Catherine (Hubbard) O’Gorin. She married Jimmy Glenn Hallowell, July 18, 1986 in Charleston; he survives. Also surviving are two children, Tammy (Sean) Alexander and Angie Ellis; and one sister, Janie (Mick) Vogt. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mickey Grumbach.

Maureen grew up in a Catholic family. She retired from WalMart after twenty-six years of service. Maureen loved collecting knick knacks and enjoyed working in her garden.
