Michael Brown

TRILLA – Michael Eugene Brown, 73, of Newton, formerly of Trilla, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Helia Health Care of Newton.

His graveside funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Beals Cemetery, rural Trilla, with Pastor Zandra Anderson officiating.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, Charleston.

Michael was born October 26, 1951 at Mattoon, son of Donald and Ruby Ilene (Price) Brown.  He is survived by a sister, Diane Simmons and husband Hal of Mason, IL; niece and nephews, Danette Thornton, Dustin Thornton and wife Jill, Derrick Thornton and girlfriend Morgan, and Haldan Simmons and wife Ashley; along with several additional nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael loved deer hunting, and had a gift of making art objects out of deer antlers.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.
