Pamela Jean (Hurst) Atwell

March 23, 1962 – August 3, 2026

LERNA – Pamela Jean Atwell, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026. Born on March 23, 1962, Pam was a loving mother, cherished grandmother, dear sister, and devoted friend whose warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Pam spent many wonderful years in Lerna, Illinois, alongside her beloved husband, Robert Atwell. Together, they shared a deep affection for the farm life Robert spent his life cultivating, and Pam took immense pride and joy in their beautiful farm home. Her home was her sanctuary – a warm and welcoming place where family gathered and cherished memories were made.

With an incredible green thumb, Pam had an amazing gift for bringing vibrant life into her plants and gardens. She nurtured her flowers and greenery with the same patience, care and tenderness she gave to everyone around her, leaving beauty blooming everywhere she went.

Above all else, Pam’s heart belonged to her family. As a mother and grandmother, her love knew no bounds. She doted on her children and beamed with pride over her grandchildren, whose laughter and energy brought endless happiness into her life. Saved in her faith as a Christian, she held a personal, quiet trust in the Lord throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, quiet grace, and unconditional love that will live on in the hearts of those she held dear.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Daughter, Katherine Frawley and husband Matthew, and their children, Abigail and Eleanor, Daughter, Amanda Mitchell, and her children, Payton Barker and Lily Barker, Son, Albert Mitchell, and his children, Landon, MacKenzie, Preston, Cheyenne, and Dylan; Surviving siblings: Brothers, Terry Hurst and Larry Hurst, Sisters, Betty Zike, Donna McCray, and Joyce Zike.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Atwell, Her parents, Clinton Hurst and Dorothy Hurst, Her brothers, Jim Hurst and Ed Hurst, and Her sister, Paula Hurst.

Her Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Pleasant Prairie Indian Cemetery, Lerna, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to honor Pam’s life and celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
