Phyllis Rainey

MATTOON – Phyllis E. Rainey, 85, of Mattoon, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.

Her graveside funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Ramsey Cemetery, Ramsey, Illinois, with Bishop Thomas Suey officiating.  Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.

Elaine was born on June 11, 1933 to William Elton Beck and Pearl Mae (Horn) Beck. She married Charles Leon Rainey, December 10, 1960 at Taylorville, IL; he preceded her in death in 1962.

Elaine enjoyed reading, eating out with family and friends, traveling, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all Elaine cherished her family.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Joy) Rainey, of Charleston Illinois, a grandson, Ryan Rainey, sister, Challys (Delbert) Black of Monticello, sister-in-law Norma Miller of Decatur, brother-in-law Leroy Cable of Herrick, nieces, Kim Black, Kathy Pfiester, Tina Beck, April Austin, and Joyce Peters and nephews Billy Miller, Mike Miller, and Brooks Beck.  She was preceded in death by a brother Bradley (Helen) Beck, a sister Clarice Cable, and a brother-in-law Bill Miller.
