Phyllis Rigg Franseen

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Phyllis Rigg Franseen, 94, of Charleston, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Her Memorial Service will be held in Jacksonville, Illinois at a time and date to be announced later.  Arrangements:  Harper-Swickard, Charleston, Illinois.

Phyllis was born October 7, 1929 at Jacksonville, Illinois, daughter of Glen Frederick and Lucille Ellen (Brooks) Ore.  She married Hobart Frederick Rigg, March 18, 1951.  He passed away January 5, 1999.  She later married Cecil Franseen.  He passed away October 21, 2010.  She is survived by one daughter, Ann Spear of Charleston; grandchildren, Isaac Spear, Huck Spear, Erica Mulder, Lauren Rodenbarger, and Micah Bringman; Great-grandchildren, Samantha Spear, Niko Spear, Owen Spear, Mirin Spear, Zaida Spear, Leia Rodenbarger, Gabriel Rodenbarger, Eli Rodenbarger, Cooper Mulder, Kahlie Bickerstaff, and Sydney Bickerstaff; and one great-great-grandchild, Arianna Bickerstaff.  She cherished the step-grandchildren she had in her second marriage.  She was also preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Schild, and one daughter, Mary Sue Bringman.

Phyllis loved her job at Eisenhower Elementary School.  The relationships she built with students and co-workers lasted the rest of her life.  She was a longtime member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church.
