Reggie Galey
CHARLESTON – Reggie Lee Galey, 73, of rural Charleston, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral with military rites by Paul McVey V.F.W. Post #1592 and its' auxiliary and Charleston American Legion Post #93 following at 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Cemetery, rural Charleston.
Reggie was born September 1, 1950 at Casey, Illinois, son of Riley E. and Marjorie M. (Townsend) Galey. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann McCullough, October 16, 1981 at Charleston; she survives. Also surviving are her children, Jamey (Mechelle) Cohoon of Charleston and Chris Cohoon of Fayetteville, AR; four grandchildren, Cori Cohoon, Avery Cohoon, Alexa Roberts, and Jenna Cohoon; an Aunt, Rosalie Galey of Casey; and a niece, Michela Dill of Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Kendra (Fred) Irby.
Reggie was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He held memberships at Woodlawn Chapel and Paul McVey V.F.W. Post #1592. He played on the Basketball team in High School, and had a steady faith, always enjoying spending daily time with Jesus. Reggie loved to hunt, especially deer, go fishing, and working in his garden. He enjoyed his horses, dogs, and even a CAT. Reggie took a great deal of joy in teaching his granddaughters how to fish.
