Rex W. Sims

CHARLESTON – Rex Wayne Sims, 64, of rural Charleston, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Rex was born December 18, 1957 at Charleston, son of Rex M. and Opal Irene (Horath) Sims.  He is survived by his significant other, Janet Sanderson; daughters, Lacie (Shaun) Wellbaum of Jewett and Nikki (Mark) Jewell of Mattoon; son, Benjaman Sanderson of Neoga; sisters, Joyce Guerra, Judy Veach, and Linda Alvis, all of Charleston; grandchildren, Murphy, Knox, Dakota, Jade, and Skylar; and nieces and nephews, Ron Veach Jr., Jamie Hays, Stormie Coffman, and Jim Kuykendall.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Alvis and George Guerra.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. (NOON) to 1:00 p.m. at the Caudill-King Funeral Home, followed immediately by a graveside funeral at Kickapoo Cemetery, rural Charleston.

Rex enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and had been a past member of the Coonhunters Club.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan.
