CHARLESTON – Ronald Nelson DeLude, 65, of rural Charleston, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at home surrounded by family.
Ron was born May 17, 1955 at Kankakee, Illinois, son of Raymond and Nina (Pombert) DeLude. He married Cheryl Raye Denault, July 8, 1978 at Bradley, Illinois; she survives. Also surviving are their children: Leigh Donna and husband Troy of Charleston, Neal DeLude and wife Tamara of Charleston, and Evan DeLude and Mariah of Springfield. Siblings: Marcia Gomez and husband Noe, Brad DeLude and wife Linda, Robin DeLude, and Kenny DeLude. One grandchild Asher DeLude, as well as several nieces and nephews, also survive. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, brother: Paul DeLude, and niece: Wendy.
Ron loved his family above all and his goal before he passed was to spend his life serving Jehovah God to the full. He was a very kind and generous person who would share all he had with anyone in need.
Ron was a U.S. Army veteran, working as a Dog Handler. He retired as a Police Officer with the Charleston Police Department, and later retired from EIU, where he worked as a Building Service Worker. Ron was a man of many talents. He was a skilled craftsman, building his own log cabin and making things in his wood working shop that he was able to gift to his loved ones. He also built boats, and loved the outdoors, waterfowl hunting and fishing with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
