Sheryl L. Brown

EFFINGHAM – Sheryl Lynne Brown, 81, of Effingham, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Sheryl was born August 2, 1945 at Mattoon, a daughter of Glen and Sarah (Bailey) Plummer. She married Gene Brown, Sr., October 9, 1971 at Lerna. He passed away January 6, 1988. She is survived by their son, Gene D. Brown, Jr. and his ex-wife, Angie Brown; step-daughters, Rick and Pat Watts and Tanya Thomas; grandchildren, Chelsea (Andrew) Caldwell, Kai Brown, and Ashton Brown; great-grandchildren, Pierce and Henry Welke; siblings, Robert Plummer, Gayle Golden, Anna Marie King, Glen Plummer, and Kevin Plummer. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Karen Kaye Plummer, Kenneth Ray Plummer, John Wesley Plummer, Glenna Curtner, Jeanne Loraine Farris, Richard E. Plummer, and Gerald Lee Plummer.

The Memorial Service honoring her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Friday, September 4, 2026 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home, 720 Monroe Avenue, Charleston, Illinois. Burial of ashes will be private.

Sheryl attended New Life United Pentecostal Church of Effingham.
