Steve Huddlestun

CHARLESTON – Robert Stephen "Steve" Huddlestun, 78, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Steve was born October 15, 1942 in Charleston, son of Wendel and Helen Irene (Adkins) Huddlestun.  He is survived by his companion, Nancy Houchin of Charleston, his children, William Stephen Huddlestun and wife Sharon of Charleston and Lisa Ann Leisch and husband Tim of Mattoon; one brother, Eric Huddlestun and wife Linda of Charleston, and one sister, Barbara Morgan and husband Dave of Paris, IL, four grandchildren, Robert Huddlestun, David Huddlestun, Adrienne Huddlestun, and Brandon Stevens.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

His graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Mound Cemetery, Charleston, with Pastor Tom Skinner officiating.  Military rites will be performed by Paul McVey V.F.W. Post #1592 and Charleston American Legion #93.  Memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity or Hope House of East Central Illinois.  Arrangements: Caudill-King.

Steve worked as a carpenter in earlier years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a Military Police Officer.  Steve loved animals of all kinds.
