Sylvia Herbert

CHARLESTON – Sylvia G. Herbert, 79, formerly of Gays, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Church Street, Champaign, Illinois.

Sylvia was born June 17, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Russell and Ruby (Zahn) Haines.  She married David Herbert, Sr. in 1956; he preceded her in death.  She is survived by seven children: Brenda Tate of Mattoon, David Herbert, Jr. of Mattoon, Steve Herbert of Los Angeles, CA, Chris Herbert of Tolono, Daniel Herbert of Pasadena, CA, Tracey Herbert of Champaign, and Jason Herbert of Lexington, KY.  One sister: Shirley Malfitano of Shorewood, IL; as well as 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Sylvia retired from R.R. Donnelly.
