Violet East

CHARLESTON – Violet V. East, 92, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral service honoring her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Pastor Vance Oliver officiating.  Burial will follow in Arcola Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials: Alzheimer's Association.

Violet was born January 21, 1925 at Brocton, Illinois, daughter of William O. and Nellie B. (Sterling) Miller.  She married Lowell Gordon East, September 3, 1960.  He preceded her in death, January 11, 2017.  She is survived by their children: Tom (Cheryl) Walker of Burnet, TX, Rick (Chris) Walker of Shelbyville, James Lowell East of Charleston, Angela Kirkley of Charleston, and Robert East of Mattoon.  One sister: Reba Thomas of Charleston, as well as nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters.

Violet attended First Church of God and retired as a School Bus Driver for the Charleston School District.
