Winona Shepherd

CHARLESTON – Winona Doris Shepherd, 92, of Charleston, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at Charleston Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2025 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, prior to the service. MEMORIALS: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Winona was born March 13, 1933 at Charleston, daughter of Thomas and Lois (Walker) Baumgartner. She married Oscar Franklin Shepherd, June 12, 1959 at Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death, October 26, 1996. She is survived by three children, Kolleen (Dave) Brazzell, Wanda (Steve) Daugherty, and William F. (Becky) Shepherd; one step-son, Mike (Terri) Shepherd; grandchildren, Nick Brazzell, Ben Brazzell, Josh Bloom, Matt St. Clair, Jim (Cari) Shepherd, Bill Shepherd, and Stephanie (Dave) Drisko; as well as five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Shepherd, one step-son, Victor Wayne Shepherd, one step-daughter, Sherry Lynn Shepherd, one brother, Jerry Baumgartner, and two sisters, Norma Neal and Joann Brown.

Winona retired from Brown Shoe Company. She was cherished by all who knew her.
