Douglas Ashby
CHARLESTON - Douglas Everett Ashby, 55, of Charleston, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Salisbury Church, 2350 Madison, Charleston, with Scott Sims and Michael Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Salisbury Cemetery in Hutton Township. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Salisbury Church, 2350 Madison, Charleston. Memorials may be directed to an organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Doug was born April 28, 1962 at Charleston, son of Alva Russell and Ruby Maxine (McNamer) Ashby. He was united in marriage to Angela Ray Winnett, June 10, 1989 at the Salisbury Church in Hutton; she survives. Also surviving are children: Heather Gerould of Mattoon and James Hayes of Hazel Dell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ray and Diane Winnett of Charleston; sister-in-law: Lorri (Cliff) Shaw of Casey; brother-in-law: Shane Winnett of Charleston; nieces and nephews: Shawna (Josh) Ridgely of Westfield, Jeff (Teresa) Winnett of Casey, Morgan, Megan, and Makenzie Shaw of Casey, Koltin and Kendall Winnett of Charleston, and Anna, Destiny, and Aly Winnett of Charleston. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Sandra Winnett, and niece: Tracy Winnett.
Doug was a Pastor, and had most recently served Salisbury Church. He loved target and skeet shooting, wood working, and enjoyed collecting guns. Most of all, he was devoted to his family, and God.
